Pratt Livestock, Pratt, Kansas, reported estimated receipts of 5,000 head on March 14, compared to 4,167 head a week ago and 5,454 head a year ago, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Dodge City, Kansas.

This was the mid-session report. Compared to a week ago, the feeder steers weighing 700 to 800 pounds were mostly steady to $4 higher and those 800 to 900 pounds were mostly steady to $2 lower. The feeder heifers were mostly steady to $5 lower, with instances of them selling $6 to $7 lower on 800-pound weights. The calves were too early to determine a trend. Overall, the demand was good to very good and the quality was average to mostly attractive. The feeder supply was 51% steers and 49% was heifers, with 91% weighing over 600 pounds.
